PPSR vs REVS: What’s the Difference?

Understanding the evolution from REVS to PPSR and why the old report no longer cuts it.

REVS (Register of Encumbered Vehicles) was the state‑based system that preceded the PPSR. It only recorded finance interests, and results could vary by state. In 2012 it was replaced by the PPSR, a national database covering encumbrance, write‑offs and stolen statuses. Always order a PPSR certificate — a “REVS check” alone may miss critical red flags.
