Buying Buddy only asks for information needed to check the car, deliver the product, support you, and keep the service safe.
Information we collect
We collect the information you submit through the site, including email address, name, phone number, vehicle identifiers, listing URLs, rego/VIN details, enquiry details, contract-form fields, support messages and payment/order references needed to deliver the service.
How we use it
We use this information to run checks, prepare reports, build PDFs, send emails, respond to support requests, detect abuse, improve the product, keep business records and resolve delivery or refund issues.
Free tools and browser drafts
Checklist progress is saved in this browser. Contract drafts are saved only when you choose Save and expire after seven days. Use Clear on shared devices. PDF preview/download sends the entered contract details to our server to generate the PDF; that route does not save them in an order database or send email. If you choose email delivery, the email provider processes the recipient and PDF. Paid orders and evidence are retained separately for fulfilment and support.
Accounts and saved Listing Reviews
You can save a Listing Review without supplying an email or creating an account. Our authentication provider issues a guest identity, kept in secure HttpOnly cookies for access in this browser for 30 days. Clearing these cookies or switching browsers removes guest access. Existing accounts continue to use one-time email sign-in codes and separate session cookies. A saved Listing Review stores the vehicle details, advert text, listing link and buyer concerns you submit, plus the payment references and access status for that review. Guest reviews are tied to this browser; existing account reviews remain tied to their original account. Access abuse controls store hashed identifiers rather than plain email addresses or IP addresses.
Listing Review drafts on your device
An unfinished Listing Review draft and a test-checkout return reference can be kept in this tab's session storage. Closing the tab removes this temporary tab data. Signing out through Account clears Buying Buddy's Listing Review draft and checkout references in this tab. Saved review records remain on our server; clearing browser data removes guest access to them rather than deleting the records. Avoid pasting unnecessary personal information from a seller's advert.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Buying Buddy does not store full card numbers or card security codes. Stripe may process payment information according to its own privacy and security terms.
Email and service providers
We use trusted providers to host the website, process payments, send email, store operational records and monitor the service. Those providers only receive the information needed for that purpose.
Public-page analytics
Where enabled, Vercel Web Analytics provides aggregate public-page visits, referral sources and broad device/location information. We exclude private and unknown paths and remove query values and fragments, except fixed source labels. Form contents, advert text, contact details and vehicle identifiers are not added to page analytics. Events with potentially private referrer paths or parameters are skipped. This adds no cookies or browser storage; Vercel uses a request-derived visitor hash and discards visitor sessions after 24 hours.
No selling personal information
We do not sell your personal information. We may use aggregate, non-identifying product data to understand what buyers need and where the product needs improvement.
Retention
We keep basic order, report, support and business records for as long as reasonably needed for delivery, support, accounting, dispute handling, abuse prevention and product improvement. We do not run public user profiles.
Security
We use HTTPS, Stripe checkout, access controls and operational safeguards. No web service can promise perfect security, so avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information through free-text fields.
Access, correction and deletion
To ask what information we hold about you, correct it, or request deletion where we no longer need it for business or legal reasons, email info@buyingbuddy.com.au from the address you used with the service.
