Write‑Off vs Statutory Write‑Off: Know the Difference

Not all write‑offs are equal. Here’s what the categories mean and why you should care.

A repairable write‑off means the car has been damaged but can legally return to the road if repaired and inspected. A statutory write‑off is so badly damaged it can never be registered again. Some sellers try to disguise stat‑write‑offs as repairables. Always check the WOVR status on the PPSR. Buying a repairable write‑off may be okay if the repairs are done properly and you’re paying far less than market value.
