A Queensland safety certificate checks specified basic safety standards, not comprehensive mechanical condition or future reliability. Check the identifiers, issue details, validity and transfer requirements. For private sellers the limit is 2 months or 2,000km, whichever comes first, and one transfer. Ask the issuing inspection station about unclear certificate details and arrange a separate independent mechanical inspection.
